What is Data Principal?
A Data Principal is the individual whose personal data is being processed-the customer, app user, job applicant, or employee. Under DPDP, they hold enforceable rights over that data and can raise grievances if obligations are not met.
Key requirements
- Receive a clear notice explaining what data is collected and why
- Give free, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent where required
- Exercise rights to access, correction, erasure, and nomination
- Withdraw consent with the same ease as giving it
- File grievances through a published contact mechanism
