What is Data Principal?
A Data Principal is the individual whose personal data is being processed—the customer, app user, job applicant, or employee. Under DPDP, they hold enforceable rights over that data and can raise grievances if obligations are not met.
Key requirements
- Receive a clear notice explaining what data is collected and why
- Give free, specific, informed, and unambiguous consent where required
- Exercise rights to access, correction, erasure, and nomination
- Withdraw consent with the same ease as giving it
- File grievances through a published contact mechanism
